Harmful Toxin

What is toxin?

Toxins are defined as harmful chemicals or substances that are produced naturally by microorganisms or otherwise, that our body cannot fully utilize or eliminate. They can be poisonous and may cause a variety of harms ranging from cancers (carcinogen) to upset stomachs to learning and development disorders. They also cause irritation and create harmful effects in the body.

Toxins are everywhere

Our bodies have become saturated with toxins, absorbed over time through the air we breathe, the fluids we drink and the food we eat. Inside our homes, household cleaners, cigarette smoke, solvents and air fresheners all contribute to a toxic environment. Outside our homes, a state of toxicity is brought about by automobile exhaust fumes, industrial fumes, pesticides, smoggy air and other agricultural chemicals. Our body also creates toxins during metabolism process. Excessive stress, imbalanced diet and unhealthy life styles can contribute to an intoxicated body.

How does diet affect us?

The foods that we eat every day, from fast foods to the best restaurant meals can bring effects to our body and determine whether we will suffer from a string of chronic diseases or enjoy a vigorous long life. Eating too refined carbohydrates like white flour and bread is like eating paste or glue, because it does not slide through the intestines easily, instead it slogs through the intestines, sticks to intestinal walls and gumming up the works, resulting in poor elimination.

Diqestion & Toxin

In a poorly functioning digestive tract, it can form undigested food residues, turning them into reactive compounds, whichresults in a buildup of wastes in the colon.

These faecal matters will begin to decay, producing bacteria and toxins. These toxins eventually seep through the bowel walls, where blood capillaries pick them up and distribute them all over the body.

If one’s body immune system is strong and the organs, which are crucial to the elimination process such as skin, kidneys, colon and liver are functioning at optimum levels, the body is able to rid itself from these warmful substances.

However, for many different reasons our body may fail to eliminate the toxins properly. If toxins are being absorbed faster than the rate that the body can excrete them, a state of “toxicity” may occur.

Stop poisoning our cells!

Research has found that high levels of stress hormones such as adrenalin and cortisol, can shift “beneficial detoxification pathway” towards “harmful detoxification pathway”, which encourage toxins such as free radicals to proliferate.

These free radicals can cause cellular damage through a process known as oxidation, which is another key factor that contributes to high levels of toxins in the body.

In some situations, the bowel is unable to rid the body of toxins, causing the toxins to be reabsorbed back into the bloodstream. This is known as auto-intoxification. Poor food choices, food allergies, antibiotics which kill natural intestinal flora, constipation and overgrowth of detrimental bacteria will enhance the auto-intoxification process.

Excessive toxins and undesirable bacteria in the body will interfere with proper enzyme functions, which in turn prevent normal cell activity, particularly in the brain and nervous systems.

We Need To Get Rid Of The Garbage!

If we do all the hard work to cleanse our body but leave the debris in heaps around the crucial organs without ensuring that they are eliminated completely, they are simply going to resettle in our cells again.

When our body encounters toxins, there are only a few ways to handle them: hide in fat, dump into tissues like muscle and organs or eliminate them as wastes.

Our organs need some extra help to eliminate the wastes that are accumulated in our body, that is through the “waste management specialists”. As we cleanse our body, the waste is directed to 5 major eliminator organs to be discarded such as skin, kidneys, colon, lung and liver.

A body that is overloaded with toxins will demonstrate symptoms such as poor digestion, constipation, stomach bloating, fatigue, weight gain, poor skin condition, depression, poor sleep, skin rashes, sore throat, loss of concentration, headaches, bad breath, blood sugar imbalance, excessive mucus and body odour. Naturopaths believe that these symptoms indicate a very high level of toxins in the body

Detoxification

The body does have its own natural system, which helps to detoxify harmful toxins. The most important cleansing organ is the liver; other eliminative channels are bowels (the digestive system), kidneys, skin and lungs.

In a body which is functioning well and is not overburdened with toxin, blood will carry the toxin to the liver, which uses enzymes to detoxify the harmful substances, rendering them harmless or converting them into water-soluble forms, which are then eliminated via urine or faeces.

Why detoxification is necessary

Detoxification neutralizes toxins and removes them from our body by helping the eliminator organs to function efficiently. This is important because too much toxin may weaken the body and overconsumption and misconsumption of antibiotics will reduce the ability of the body to attack and destroy new strains of resistant bacteria and virulent viruses.

Furthermore, it will adversely affect the immune system, which plays a crucial role in defending the body from the invasion of viruses and harmful bacteria.

Method Of Detoxification

There are 4 main methods of detoxification. First, drink a freshly squeezed cup of fruit juice once in the morning and once at night. Different fruits have different detoxification purposes. For example, apples contained lactose acid which assists in excretion and rich in fibre.

Second, our metabolism level decrease as we age. This will lead to excessive absorption of nutrient which will be burdensome to the body. As such we need to exercise regularly to burn excessive calories and to avoid constipation.

Third, the development of economy globalisation has pushed us to change our lifestyle. At the same time, the advancement of Information Technology is an important wave at this age. Thus, a lot of people need to work hard just to keep up with the changing tides. Intense pressure in the dog eat dog world caused physiology and mental stress to majority of the society which in turn caused mental breakdown. We have to adopt a suitable lifestyle to avoid stress and worry so that we can live a normal life. Stress is a form of mental toxic that can interrupt our elimination system.

Fourth, a healthy eating habit can reduce absorption of toxic into the body, Reduce intake of unhealthy food, such as fried food, high in fats or food with a lot of coloring and preservatives. It is recommended to take a lot of high fiber food such as vegetables, fruits, various types of potatoes and beans. Drink a lot of water as it can help increase metabolism, food digestion, dilute toxin and reduce constipation as wastage stored in body can be a toxic that harm the body.
